This Turkey Sandwich is unbeatable! Toasted bread piled with turkey, thin apple slices, crispy bacon, melted Gouda, and dressed greens—it’s the perfect combo!
Turkey Sandwich
I can’t get enough of this sandwich, and my family is hooked too! It’s been a favorite lately, especially with all the apples from our tree.
I don’t just make desserts like apple pie bars, crumble, and cobbler—apples go into savory dishes too!
And it’s honestly the best combo—turkey, apple, bacon, and cheese? So good! Add some lightly dressed greens with the most amazing dressing, and this is truly the best turkey sandwich.
Ingredients
Here’s what you’ll need to make these Turkey Sandwiches:
- Butter: Adds rich flavor. Make sure it’s soft for easy spreading without tearing the bread.
- Whole-grain bread: Adds crunch and nuttiness while holding the fillings well.
- Garlic powder: Optional, but adds extra flavor to the bread.
- Mayo: Brings creaminess and balances everything out.
- Deli turkey: Thin deli slices or leftover Thanksgiving turkey both work great!
- Honeycrisp apple: Adds a sweet, crisp bite. Slice thin for best results.
- Bacon: Crispy is key! Microwave bacon works, or bake it!
- Gouda cheese: Melts well and gives a mild, smoky flavor.
- Mixed greens: Baby kale or arugula add a fresh, peppery kick.
- Honey-Dijon dressing: Sweet and tangy, it ties all the flavors together.
How To Make Turkey Sandwiches
- Make dressing: Shake all dressing ingredients in a jar.
- Prep bread: Butter both sides and sprinkle garlic powder if you like.
- Toast bread: Broil both sides until golden.
- Assemble: Add mayo, turkey, apple, bacon, and cheese to four slices.
- Melt cheese: Broil until cheese melts.
- Finish: Add greens, drizzle dressing, top with bread, and enjoy!
What To Serve With Turkey Sandwiches
- Sweet potato fries: Crispy and a little sweet—it’s the perfect match.
- Coleslaw: For a nice crunchy side. Or use any leftover apples to make this Apple Coleslaw!
- Soup: Tomato or creamy vegetable soup are great options that pair well.
- Pickles: Tangy and helps to cut through the rich flavors.
- Cucumber salad: A nice fresh side that is easy to whip up.
Turkey Sandwich Variation Ideas
Here are a few easy swaps to mix things up:
- Cheddar + Red Onion: Swap in sharp cheddar for a bodler flavor and add red onion for a little bite.
- Swiss + Cranberry Sauce: For a sweet and tangy touch, try adding cranberry sauce with Swiss.
- Colby Jack + Avocado: Go for a creamy combo by using Colby Jack with avocado slices.
- Provolone + Lettuce: Add a light, fresh crunch with some crisp lettuce and provolone.
- Monterey Jack + Onion: Caramelized onions pair perfectly with the mild flavor of Monterey Jack for a savory boost.
Storage
Like most hot sandwiches, these Turkey Sandwiches are best enjoyed straight out of the oven! They can get soggy quickly, so dig in while they’re fresh!
